Don't be shy to ask for help
Especially when going to the bathroom for the first time after you deliver.
Let me tell you, your first trip to the bathroom will be an event. Don't be embarrassed to let someone help you there, as you don't want to risk passing out alone in the bathroom.
There are many things that might come to mind when going to the bathroom then, especially if you had stitches or a tear. You are not alone in feeling worried about this, for many moms, it is an intimidating prospect. You might not even need to poop for a day or so after giving birth, even if you usually go daily. But when you are ready to poop, it shouldn't hurt because the area between your vagina and anus (perineum) will still feel quite numb.
In any case, don't do it alone. Wait until your partner or someone else is around before attempting to go to the bathroom (mostly for moral support/ and emergencies in case you pass out) plus, you won't have to bring your baby into the bathroom with you!
